About

IMG-0065.jpg

Ned Willis is a painter and criminal defense investigator based in McMinnville, Oregon. His pieces are created with acrylic paint on wood panels, which are then poured with epoxy resin. The result is brighter colors, deeper blacks, and a sense of depth that draws the viewer into the painting.

His subject matter ranges from the bizarre to the absurd, featuring animals, architecture, landscapes, and portraits; all painted with a tongue in cheek sense of drama. His eye for the dramatic and pension for vivid colors no doubt stems from his background in theatrical lighting.

Ned's day job exposes him to nearly every aspect of the human condition, and one can't help but sense that this experience finds its way into his paintings. His portraits of people and animals explore themes of loneliness, liminality, and the coldness of nature, while his landscapes and architectural paintings evoke an eerie sense of familiarity, like a dim childhood memory or half-forgotten dream.
